One of the most serious health concerns for seniors is developing a stroke, which occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is reduced or blocked. When the blood supply is interrupted, brain tissue doesn’t get enough oxygen or nutrients, which results in the death of brain cells.

The FAST test stands for:
F-Face: Ask your senior loved one to smile in order to check if one side of their face droops.
A-Arms: Ask your senior loved one to raise their arms and check if one arm drifts downward. Some seniors may not be able to raise one arm up as well.
S-Speech: Ask your senior loved one to repeat a sentence and check if they have difficulties talking.
T-Time: Time is of the essence in case of a stroke. If your loved one is showing any of the mentioned signs, call 911 immediately.
